Class 1, Division 2 certified computer equipment is required to operate within hazardous locations as designated in the Oil and Gas Industry. The certification process can be very time consuming and costly. As a result there are only a small number of companies that offer a certified panel PC. Most of these products can not be modified, have a limited variety of specifications and are expensive. The iPPC was created to address these issues allowing us to create a panel PC that meets the specific preferences and needs of our clients. Since this often involves very minor mechanical and electrical changes to our proven platform the certification process is more concise, and less costly.
Many of our clients offer a unique product or process to the Oil and Gas Industry. The search for a suitable panel PC is often what leads these companies to realize the need for a unique panel PC. Our iPPC was designed for this purpose by allowing for the easy integration of a customer specific module or the inclusion of their proprietary technology into our panel PC platform. Compared to the alternative of creating and certifying a panel PC from scratch, the iPPC is the most cost effective way to create a unique, certified product of your own.
The Oil and Gas industry utilizes a variety of computer systems and other electronics in the oil field. Quite often these devices are installed outdoors where they are exposed to the sun and weather, and the power available at these sites is often plagued by electrical transients. The iPPC combines a high brightness, sunlight readable LCD with a high resolution touch screen. This pair was chosen during the design process from many samples as the best combination under direct sunlight conditions. The design also includes built in power conditioning to protect against temporary transients, spikes, surges, notches, and other power line noise.
